SDP
School development plan is also known as SDP. It is a high level strategic planning document covering covering all the schools act is over a period of 2 to 3 years. It sets of the changes school needs to make improvement in the level of student achievement and shows how and when these changes will be made. There is no prescribed format for the school development plan. It depends on the improvements or the development the school needs. STP will show the quality of the schools leadership and direction.

Health principles, teachers and school authorities to know about the schools whereabouts in all sector.
Helps in clarifying long and short term goals.
This is a statutory requirement.

The stakeholders of SDP are management, principal teacher Government and community.
Dimensions of school development plan
1.PHYSICAL: infrastructure environment, safety measures etc.
2.ACADEMIC: curriculum planning, teacher learning process, evaluation, extra curricular activities etc.
3.PERSONAL: principal, teachers, non teaching staff, support staff.
4.FINANCIAL: means of financing or funding, budgetary allocation ,capital and recurring expenses.
5.ADMINISTRATIVE: decreasing enrollment ,communication and coordination etc.
6.SOCIAL: PTA, SMC, alumini association ,community.
How to begin SDP
The first step to holds beginning STP is by forming and internal school improvement advisory team.
After formation of the team a SWOT analysis of the school is conducted.SWOT analysis is conducted to understand the strength, weakness, opportunity and threats of the school. After this an area for improvement is identified. Then the girls and targets for the STP is prepared. All the findings of these are presented in front of the SMC as a report for the further actions.
Preparing SDP by SMC
After analysing the report submitted by the internal school improvement advisory team and action plan is prepared by the SMC members. Thus formed action plan is submitted to the higher authorities to get their approval. After the report is approved it is communicated with stakeholders. After this the plan is executed and is being monitored for two or three years.
Challenges of SDP
Lack of awareness and expertise in SMC members.
Lack of initiative by the leader.
Absence of professional approach.
No management support.
Poor communication.
Scarcity of resources.
